Welcome 2024-25 Class of Teen Ambassadors

The SafeLIGHT Foundation welcomed its third class of Teen Ambassadors for an orientation session on Aug. 17.

“The Teen Ambassador program was created in response to the alarming rate of teen fatalities and injuries from traffic crashes,” said Nikki Zollar, Chairwoman of the SafeLIGHT Foundation. “We are proud that each year the program has grown. This year’s class consists of 17 students from seven Chicago area high schools. Together, they will help craft safe driving messages to prevent crashes and save lives.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), motor vehicle crashes are one of the leading causes of death for U.S. teens and the risk of motor vehicle crashes is higher among teens ages 16-19 than among any other age group.

The Teen Ambassadors in the class of 2024-25 have pledged to raise awareness about the importance of safe driving by developing and practicing good driving skills, and by sharing and encouraging others in their school communities to do the same. They will spend the year creating public service messages and informing their peers on the importance of safe driving.

The Ambassadors attend the following Chicago-area high schools: Kenwood HS; Southland College Prep; Noble Baker HS Holy Trinity HS; Rauner College Prep; Victor J Andrew HS; Mother McAuley HS.
