A driver died Wednesday after running a red light and crashing into four parked vehicles near the WMUR television station, police said.

The crash happened just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of South Commercial Street and Granite Street, according to the Manchester Police Department.

The vehicle was traveling south on Commercial Street when it went through a red light at Granite Street and struck a row of four parked vehicles across from WMUR-TV, police said.

The driver, who was the sole occupant, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and later died, they said. Police did not immediately release the victim’s identity.

The four parked vehicles sustained extensive damage but were unoccupied at the time. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Manchester Police Traffic Unit. Authorities are asking anyone with information to call police at 603-668-8711.
